Warmth That Begins in a Corner

When November comes, we find ourselves looking for a corner of our own at home. An armchair, a lamp beside it, a half-read book in our hands… As the days grow shorter outside, we understand better that warmth begins not in grand rooms but in a small place we keep for ourselves.

While preparing this issue, I thought about those corners. The light of a reading lamp, a balcony we don't give up on even in winter, afternoon tea brewing by the fireside. A fish supper set by the sea, and the cloth we embroidered with our own hands for that table. A cape we draped over our shoulders, sewn from our own pattern.

Sometimes warmth comes from a journey too. Climbing the hills of a city in November light, we realise that we can find a corner of our own far from home as well.

The time we keep for ourselves is part of this warmth too. A cream smoothed onto hands dried by winter, a scent we love, a cup of tea that warms us from within. These may look like small things, but they change how the day feels.

And then there are our homes. Every home has a language of its own; some speak with flowers, some with colours, some with simplicity. What matters is that the home resembles us.

The years have taught me this: the most beautiful corners of life are those built with love. When we set a table, sew a seam or welcome a guest, we are always really doing the same thing. We leave our love somewhere.

As you read this issue, find your own warm corner too. Perhaps an armchair, perhaps a window seat, perhaps a table shared with someone you love.

I wish you all a warm and cosy November.

With love,
