Some books only add to our knowledge. Others change how we see life.

September is a month when, as we move from summer's looseness back into a daily rhythm, our minds make room for something new too. This month, we built our reading selection with exactly this in mind: two works worth reflecting on, both in support of our body, our mind and our life energy.

It's no coincidence that this month's selection shares the same spirit as our Health & Longevity section. As we talk, in this issue, about the quiet power of movement, muscle and sleep, we wanted to look for the same question's answer in the world of books too: What truly sustains a long, high-quality life?

In the book we've chosen from Turkey, Prof. Dr. Osman Müftüoğlu explains that while growing older is inevitable, how we age is shaped, to a great extent, by our own choices — offering a concrete roadmap built around nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management and hormonal balance. In the book we've chosen from abroad, Dr. Casey Means shows how metabolic health is intertwined not just with weight, but with our energy, our mood, the quality of our sleep, and our ability to focus.

Both are saying the same thing in different languages: living a long life isn't a sufficient goal on its own. What really matters is the energy, and the awareness, with which we sustain that life.

You can find this month's full selection below — including publication date, why we chose each book, and notes on who should read it.

You don't have to read both books at the same time; you can save one for this month and the other for the next. What matters is the question you ask yourself as you turn the pages: How can what I learn today make tomorrow's life a little better?
